Artists: Kerby Rosanes, Dennis Hwang, Sagaki Keita, Visoth Kakvei Project: Unstructured, Structured, & Template Supplies: Paper, Black & Grey Markers, Black Pen, Templates
Doodling Directions Unstructured Randomly start with a line somewhere on your paper and build on that line without planning. Continue adding lines to your piece until it feels finished. Change your drawing tool so that line values and thickness change as you work.
Structured Draw a flowing line on a new piece of paper. Stop and briefly plan your next steps. For example, do you want to use lines that curve or ones that angle? Do you want to create texture using dots, stripes, or hatch mark? What areas will you leave white and what areas will you fill? What things can you repeat? Although you will spend a few minutes thinking about a plan, remember to also be spontaneous and allow you drawing to grow in unplanned ways.
Templates Pick a template and trace a shape somewhere on a new piece of paper. Flip and turn the shape tracing it in several other places on your paper. Continue to add and trace shapes and lines creating an interesting and planned design.
