The theme of this project is TRANSITIONS (see definition above). You have 2 design options that are described below. Both are centered around the concept of something connecting together with a natural flow from one form to another. Study the directions for both projects and choose the one you like the best.
This is a Gap project and it is due MARCH 20. Gap projects are worked on during gaps of class time (waiting for paint to dry, finished early, need a break from your current project, etc.) There will not be large amounts of time dedicated to working on the project as a whole class. You are responsible for managing your time to complete this project. You may want to spend a few minutes every day or take a day once a week to work on this project. Don't wait till the last minute to start this project.
Value Shading
Both of these projects will be finished in pencil.
Fill up your paper with drawing and shading
Use a minimum of 5 values (white, light grey, grey, dark grey, black)
Leave no more than 5% of the piece with white (reserve white for the brightest highlights)
Be bold with your shading
Focus on value (the light and dark of a color) to show the form of the object. Use the various techniques like: tonal, hatching, cross-hatching, stippling, scumbling, etc.
