1. Generating Ideas: There are MANY options for this project! Spend time researching ideas. Make sure that the topic/idea you choose is something that is personally interesting!!
**Remember these images are for inspiration! Your project needs to be as UNIQUE as possible. Create something in your own personal style.
2. Researching: When you have determined a direction for your project:
Look up reference images online (to help you plan and draw out ideas)
Make sure you are looking at the RUBRIC, so that all project requirements are shown in your artwork
3. Visual Development:
Create 2 small sketches in your sketchbook to help develop your design. USE THE RUBRIC WHILE DEVELOPING!!
Plan out colors on your sketch so that you will be ready when it is time to paint!
When you have decided what your design will be, create a real-size line design for your painting (12x18) using 12 x 18" newsprint. By drawing out your design on a separate paper, you will have as few lines and eraser marks as possible on the final paper.
After you have completed your newsprint sketch, transfer the design onto your final paper!
4. Final Design:
Carefully transfer your design to your final paper using a light box and keeping your lines as light as possible
Begin painting design
TIPS:
Mix paint starting with the lighter color
Begin painting with the lighter colors, if you try to paint a light color on top of a darker one it will reactivate the paint and the color will not show up the way you want it to.
5. Refinement: When you have completed the majority of your painting, make sure you begin refining your design. Think about the following things:
Clean up the edges of your painted areas, making sure there is a smooth transition from one color to the next (this can be done with a small amount of water on your brush)
erase any stray pencil marks that are still showing
add a second coat of paint to any areas that are looking thin or uneven in color
smooth out any areas of paint that have dried with brushstroke marks (this can be done with a small amount of water on your brush)
ask three people around the room if they notice any areas that need attention
Continue to analyze your project to see if any areas need to be refined or changed to fit the project rubric requirements
