In the image below, a vegetable peeler becomes an abstract design Abstract Art uses shapes, forms, lines and colors to represent their subject matter without using a recognizable object. The final images does not depict a person, place or thing in the natural world. Consider using the techniques of simplification and/or distortion.
Choose an object - Avoid very simple or highly complex shapes
Pick a 6 Square Grid ( 6" x 6" squares) or 9 Square Grid (4" x 4" Squares). Consider the number of steps your object will require to go from realistic to total abstraction.

Final Design Pencil Work
Lightly draw each of your designs from the planning grid into the appropriate final paper square (6" squares for the 6 Square Grid or 4" Squares for the 9 Square Grid).
If you used individual panels, these can be transferred to the final paper using the light box. This prevents eraser marks and corrections on your final piece.
Complete all 6 or 9 squares. Be neat keeping the white paper clear of pencil marks and smears.
The first squares will be shaded with pencil.
Once the design is fairly simplified, you will use India ink to paint in the
