Choose a suit (Heart, Diamond, Spade, or Club) OR Create the King, Queen, and Jack for every suit + 2 Jokers
Limit colors (Black plus 1 or 2 colors)
Number cards (2-10) - Be consistent with layout
Corner design (Suite/Number) and Border (if desired)
Face Cards (King, Queen, Jack)
Joker - Be super creative with this design
Card Backs (Optional) - 1 design for the entire set, Overall Symmetrical design (cards are held in all directions)
Card Total: 14
Design Plan Subject: Animals (Limited or Many kinds) Theme: Your Choice (examples: Endangered, Whimsical, Period Costume, Ocean, Cultural, Ninja, Etc) Colors: Black plus one or two accent colors of your choice Style: Graphic Illustration Materials: Thin sharpies, Colored Marker, Bic Pen, Practice Paper, Card Template, Number & Shape Templates, Scissors, Final Paper, Pencil Techniques: Stippling, Hatch, Cross-Hatch (Pen & Ink Techniques) Extras: Collage Materials (Optional)
Because the cards are a set, make a plan on how to connect the set so that they read as a connected group.
Research elements that you want to include in your cards - Images, styles, costumes, borders, designs, backgrounds, etc.)
Create 3 to 5 small doodles to work out some of your detail placement
Consider the small size of the final cards when thinking about detail and how much empty space you will incorporate into your design.
You may draw your final designs lightly on the cards or you can draw them on practice paper and lightly transfer them to the final piece of paper
Other considerations:
* Traditional flipped symmetry (see the alligator card example below) * Ways to incorporate the suit in the design (Include the shape as part of the design/background or leave the shape as the negative space in the design.
