Overlapping
An object that is placed in front of another is percieved as closer to the viewer. |
Size
As things move away from the viewer toward the background, they decrease in size. |
Placement on the Surface
Things placed on the bottom of the picture plane feel closer to us then things placed higher up. |
Color and Value
Colors that are closer to the viewer are more intense, richer and darker in value. Colors that ar far away from the viewer are less intense, greyed down, and lighter in value. In a landscape, cityscape or seascape this is often called Ariel Perspective. |
