Directions 1. Choose a subject/design that shows depth or can be broken down into several layers 2. Draw a simple line drawing of your piece 3. Decide if you will work from the top down or from the bottom up
Top down: The largest section will be cut out of the top color and layers will be added underneath getting smaller as they go down
Bottom Up: Start with the background color uncut & add layers on top of the base working your way up to the design element that is closest to the viewer
4. Choose colors & Papers (thicker paper works better) 5. Cut small pieces of cardboard to use as spacers between layers or plan to glue small parts of the image to the base and curl elements up so they stand out from the background (some tips may be glued down to create an element that curls out then comes back to the base) 6. Minimum of 3 layers + a base layer 7. Minimum of 4 colors 8. Minimum size 11' x 14"
