The theme of this project is METAMORPHOSIS (see definition above). You have 2 design options that are described below. Both are centered around the concept of something changing from one form to another. Study the directions for both projects and choose the one you like the best.
This is a Gap project and it is due OCTOBER 20. Gap projects are worked on during gaps of class time (waiting for paint to dry, finished early, need a break from your current project, etc.) There will not be large amounts of time dedicated to working on the project as a whole class. You are responsible for managing your time to complete this project. You may want to spend a few minutes every day or take a day once a week to work on this project. Don't wait till the last minute to start this project.
Choice 1 - Progressive Abstraction
Overview of Project Create a design where an every day object gradually changes into an interesting abstract design. Progressive Abstraction refers to the change from a recognizable object that gradually morphs into an abstract design. In the image below, a combination lock gradually becomes a black & white design.
Abstract Art uses shapes, forms, lines and colors to represent their subject matter without using a recognizable object. The final images does not depict a person, place or thing in the natural world. Consider using the techniques of simplification and/or distortion.
